Implied probability = what the odds suggest the chance of winning is, before the bookmaker's margin.
GoldBets displays odds in all three standard formats. You can switch between them at any time in your account settings. Here's what each one means.
The most common format on GoldBets and across European and Asian bookmakers. The number represents your total return per Rs 1 staked β including your stake back.
Formula: Stake Γ Decimal Odds = Total Return
Profit = Return β Stake
Traditional format used mainly in UK betting. The fraction tells you profit relative to stake β top number is your profit, bottom is your stake required.
Formula: (Stake Γ Numerator) Γ· Denominator = Profit
Total = Profit + Stake
American format based around Rs 100 or Rs 100 units. Positive numbers show profit on a Rs 100 bet; negative numbers show what you must stake to win Rs 100.
Positive: Profit = (Odds/100) Γ Stake
Negative: Profit = (100/|Odds|) Γ Stake

Every set of odds contains an implied probability β what the bookmaker's pricing suggests is the likelihood of each outcome. It's calculated simply: divide 1 by the decimal odds.
For example, if GoldBets offers Pakistan at 1.90 and India at 1.95 in a T20 match, the implied probabilities are 52.6% and 51.3% respectively. Notice they add up to more than 100% (103.9%). That extra 3.9% is the bookmaker's margin β the built-in edge that funds the operation. It's how every bookmaker, including GoldBets, generates revenue.
GoldBets maintains one of the lowest margins in the Pakistani market β typically between 2% and 5% on major sports markets. Lower margin means more of the theoretical payout reaches winning customers, which is why comparing odds matters. The table below shows how this works across a sample football match.
| Outcome | Odds | Implied Prob. |
|---|---|---|
| Home Win | 1.85 | 54.1% |
| Draw | 3.40 | 29.4% |
| Away Win | 4.20 | 23.8% |
| Total | 107.3% | |
| Margin | 7.3% |

If you're new to sports betting in Pakistan, the single most useful thing you can do before placing your first wager is spend twenty minutes genuinely understanding how betting odds work. It sounds like homework, but it's not β once the logic clicks, it becomes second nature. Every odds number you see on GoldBets is telling you two things simultaneously: how much money you stand to make, and what the bookmaker thinks the probability of that outcome actually is. Understanding both pieces is what separates a recreational punter from someone who bets with a genuine edge.
GoldBets uses decimal odds as the default format, which is the most intuitive of the three main systems. A decimal odds number of 2.50 simply means that for every Rs 1 you stake, you receive Rs 2.50 in total if you win β that's your original stake plus Rs 1.50 profit. Stake Rs 1,000 at 2.50 and the return is Rs 2,500, of which Rs 1,500 is profit. The beauty of decimal odds is that all you need is one multiplication to know exactly what you'll receive. There's no separate calculation for profit versus total return β just multiply your stake by the decimal odds figure and you have your full payout.
Fractional odds are less common on GoldBets but worth understanding because they appear in media coverage and on some UK-focused platforms. When you see odds of 3/2 β read as "three to two" β it means for every Rs 2 you stake, you make Rs 3 profit. So on a Rs 1,000 stake at 3/2, your profit is Rs 1,500 and your total return is Rs 2,500. Same outcome as 2.50 decimal, just expressed differently. Fractions with 1 in the denominator β like 2/1 or 5/1 β are particularly easy: the numerator tells you straight how many times your stake you win as profit. 5/1 on Rs 1,000 returns Rs 5,000 profit plus your Rs 1,000 back.
Moneyline odds are the American format and while GoldBets supports them, most Pakistani users find decimal and fractional more intuitive. Positive moneyline figures (e.g. +150) tell you the profit on a Rs 100 stake β so +150 on Rs 1,000 returns Rs 1,500 profit. Negative figures (e.g. β150) tell you what you must stake to win Rs 100 β so β150 on Rs 1,500 returns Rs 1,000 profit. You'll encounter moneyline when reading international sports analysis or watching US sports programming, so knowing how to interpret it helps you contextualise the information before converting to what GoldBets displays.
The concept that unlocks a much deeper understanding of odds is implied probability. Every odds figure implies a probability of that outcome winning. For decimal odds, the formula is simple: divide 1 by the odds. So 2.50 implies a 1/2.50 = 40% probability of winning. Odds of 1.50 imply 66.7%. Odds of 5.00 imply 20%. When you start reading odds as probabilities rather than as multipliers, you start asking the most important question in all of sports betting: does GoldBets' implied probability match what I actually believe is likely to happen? If you think Pakistan has a 60% chance of winning a T20 and GoldBets is pricing them at 1.90 (implying 52.6%), you've found genuine value β the market is underrating your selection. If your honest assessment is that Pakistan has a 50% chance and the odds imply 52.6%, then you probably shouldn't bet at all.
Accumulator bets are hugely popular among Pakistani bettors on GoldBets because of the way odds multiply together. If you select three matches β say Pakistan at 1.90, Lahore Qalandars at 1.75, and Manchester City at 1.60 β and combine them into a three-fold accumulator, the combined odds are 1.90 Γ 1.75 Γ 1.60 = 5.32. A Rs 1,000 accumulator stake returns Rs 5,320 if all three come in. The appeal is obvious. The catch is equally obvious: all three selections must win. One wrong result and the entire bet loses. Accumulators are entertainment products as much as they are betting strategies β they offer the dream of a large return from a small stake, but the probability of landing all selections drops with each addition. A sensible GoldBets approach is to keep accumulators to three or four selections maximum and only include selections where you have real conviction.
Another concept worth understanding before placing PKR bets on GoldBets is the Asian Handicap β a market that first emerged in Asian football betting and has become standard on the platform. A standard 1X2 football bet has three outcomes: home win, draw, away win. An Asian Handicap removes the draw by giving one team a virtual head start expressed as a fraction β like β0.5 or +1.5. A β0.5 handicap on the home team means they need to win the match for your bet to win; a draw is effectively counted as a loss. The payouts are generally more favourable than 1X2 because there are only two outcomes. For lopsided contests β where one team is a big favourite β handicaps allow you to bet the favourite at much better odds, or back the underdog with insurance.
GoldBets publishes odds across hundreds of markets daily β PSL, international cricket, Premier League, Champions League, La Liga, domestic leagues, virtual sports, and more. The key habit to develop is checking not just whether the odds are big but whether they represent value relative to your honest probability assessment. Keeping a simple log of your bets, your predicted probability, and the actual result over time helps you identify where your judgement is strong and where it isn't β which in turn makes you a genuinely better bettor over the long run.
For PKR management, GoldBets supports deposit limits, session time alerts, and self-exclusion options accessible directly from your account settings. Understanding odds is the intellectual side of betting β understanding your own limits is the responsible side. Both matter equally. Place your bets informed, keep your stakes proportional to your bankroll, and treat each wager as a considered decision rather than a reflexive reaction to a price that looks tempting in the moment.
